Commissions, awards and designs
1991-2023
Between 2007 and 2023 William Cockerill, director and founder of Octa Associates, commissioned seventeen sterling silver carafes. Designed and made collaboratively by Andrew Last and myself, the initial group of twelve vessels were shown at Lure gallery in Dunedin, New Zealand in 2010.
My limited-edition book Johanna Zellmer - forged, collaboratively designed by Laiina Caratti and myself and published by Darling Publications (Cologne / New York), was a finalist in the New Zealand Best Design Awards in 2016.
A set of saw-pierced and forged coins, later known as States of CHANGE, was a finalist in the 2014 Parkin Drawing Prize exhibition at the Academy Galleries in Wellington, New Zealand.
I have included some jewellery designs and silver tableware commissions from the early 1990s here, such as flasks, cups, a dolphin bracelet, a pocket adornment, a flick knife and a fishplatter. The platter gained entry into the Silvertriennial at the Goldsmith's House in Hanau, Germany.
In 1988 the German corporation DEGUSSA AG awarded a Highly Commended Prize for the wall design I created for their Research Department “Chemie Polymer” in Hanau, Germany.
